Terry Russell Obituary

Terry Ray Russell, beloved husband, son, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9th, 2024, at the age of 67.

A resident of Buchanan Dam, Texas, Terry was a faithful member of the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ in Burnet, Texas. A true man of God, he held strong traditional values and lived a life of service that continues to inspire those who knew him.

In his early years, Terry was a standout athlete, excelling in football as a member of the North Shore High School Class of 1975. He went on to play football at Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M University-Kingsville). Although his football career was cut short by an injury, Terry's drive for success and resilience never wavered. He transitioned into a long and successful career in petrochemical engineering, despite not having formal engineering training. Through sheer ingenuity and hands-on experience, he became one of the world’s foremost experts in several engineering processes. His expertise was highly sought after, allowing him to travel the globe and share his invaluable knowledge.

Terry was also a man of many talents. In his free time, he enjoyed working with his hands and could build virtually anything. Whether as an electrician, woodworker, plumber, or even an architect, he never shied away from a challenge. He took great pride in completing projects, large and small. When not working on his latest endeavor, Terry cherished spending time with family and friends, always eager to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. He freely gave the gift of his time to anyone in need of it, routinely checking in with friends old and new, alike. He was also known for his passion for cooking, often preparing large meals to share with loved ones. His kitchen was a place of warmth and hospitality, where there was always enough food to feed a crowd.

Terry is survived by his wife, Chuti, whom he married in 1997. Together, they shared 27 years of love, adventure, and travel, eventually settling in their dream home on Inks Lake. He is also survived by his two daughters, Kaley Russell and Windy Gisch; his grandchildren, Ascher, Merideth, and Shelby; his mother, Ann Russell; and his sister, Paula Hale. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Paul Russell.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2024, at the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ in Burnet, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the service at 10:00 AM.

Terry Russell was a special man who will be missed by many. He was truly one of the good ones and his family takes great comfort in knowing he has heard “well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
