Sara Louise Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully September 20, 2026 at theage of 80. Born October 2, 1945, in Burnet, Texas, the youngest daughter of Robert and Arcgeree Montgomery, Sara grew up in Burnet where she built the foundation of the warmth, kindness and gentle spirit that would define her life. She graduated Valedictorian from Burnet High School in 1964 where she met the love of her life and husband Kent Johnson. She went on to attend Howard Payne University. Sara built friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her spiritual home is The First Baptist Church of Burnet where she grew up attending and proudly singing in the choir. This is where her faith and sense of community were deeply rooted. Sara’s professional life was spent working for State Farm Insurance company until she retired. After retirement Sara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling when the opportunity arose, game nights and crossword puzzles. Caring for all the pets, livestock, and wild animals that lived on her property gave her great joy, and she was an avid bird watcher. She continued to help the community by volunteering with Opportunities for Williamson and Burnet Counties-Meals on Wheels which she truly enjoyed. Family was the center of Sara’s world. She first met Kent Johnson at First Baptist Church of Burnet where he took one look at her singing up there in the choir and said “I'm going to marry her” – and he did so on September 3rd, 1965. They built a home together inGeorgetown before settling back in Burnet. They had two children, son Russell Johnson and daughter Paula Johnson, who she taught to live with the same caring hearts and grace to others as she did. Sara cherished being a mom and a wife. She loved her extended family who visited andspent many spring breaks and summer vacations at her home, always making everyone feel loved, welcome, and well-fed.

Sara was preceded in death by her husband Marshall Kent Johnson, her mother Arcgeree Montgomery, her father Robert R. Montgomery and her sister Frances Montgomery. She is survived by her son Russell (and wife Christi) Johnson and daughter Paula Johnson.

Her legacy continues through her granddaughters Bailey (and husband Danny) Hebert, MacKenzie (and husband Quint) Pincelli, and great-granddaughter Elliot June Hebert. Sara leaves behind her dear sisters, Roberta Mikula and Johanna Hardesty; and many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward. Also, her beloved dogs Mini and Baby. Sara’s kindness, loving heart and ability to listen created a circle of love and kindness that we all enjoyed. Her absence will be deeply felt by the countless lives she touched.
