Russell Prieskorn Obituary

Russell Alan Prieskorn, 69, passed away on April 4, 2026.

Russell was born on June 27, 1956, to Charles and Helen (Rose) Prieskorn in Fort Stockton, Texas.

He attended Fort Stockton High School, where he started his early education and built the foundation for his future. He later earned an Associate of Applied Science in Mechanics from Lee College in Baytown, Texas, reflecting his practical skill and hands-on experience. He then completed Air Force training as an Airman in the United States Air Force and carried forward the values of discipline, service, and commitment he gained through that experience. Following his time in the Air Force, he attended Lubbock Christian University, where he studied Sociology, broadening his understanding of people and communities.

He worked for many years in the natural gas field across West Texas, helping maintain pipelines. His work reflected his deep love and pride for Texas, as well as his commitment to protecting its land and resources.

Russell enjoyed a simple life filled with the outdoors and the things he loved most. His interests included hunting, fishing, boating, camping, barbecuing, birding, stargazing, and even a bit of alien hunting. He was also a known menace to flies, with his salt gun always at the ready, and could turn even the smallest moments into something entertaining with his quick wit and humor. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, he could be counted on to stand by his team through every high and low, usually offering plenty of commentary and laughter along the way. Above all, he cherished his best friend, Dot, his beloved dog, who was never far from his side.

Most importantly, he deeply loved his family and treasured time spent with his lifelong love, Sherry, and his daughters, Richelle and Kelly. He also adored his five grandchildren, whom he loved dearly and exposed to the outdoors at every chance he could, teaching them how to tackle the world head on. He will be remembered as a true jokester with a good heart—someone who could make people laugh just as easily as he could make them shake their heads. A simple man at heart, he found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, often enjoying a cold beer, a cigarette, watching westerns, and any excuse to be outdoors, where he was most at home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Helen (Rose) Prieskorn and his brother Ronald Prieskorn.

Russell is survived by his wife, Sherry (Tyre) Prieskorn; daughters, Richelle Brown and husband, BJ, and Kelly Prieskorn; grandchildren, Brandee Brown, Kerrie Brown, Andrew Mansell, Kaytlynn Hess, and Jessalyn Hess; sister, Jennifer Wilson.
