Ruby Moran Obituary

Rubinell (Ruby) Moran was born in her grandmother’s home in Fluvanna, Texas on December 26, 1926, and passed away on November 7, 2024. She was the youngest of 4 children born to Raymon and Olive McKnight. She attended schools in Dunn, Hermleighand Dallas. She was active in choir, band (she played the tuba) and took piano lessons.  She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1945. Following graduation, Ruby attended secretarial school.

Ruby had a lovely alto voice and sang in the All-city chorus made up of choruses from churches of Christ in Dallas.  They sang on WBAP radio and in a live Christmas show on KRLD radio.  It was while participating in these choirs that Jack Moran spotted Ruby and wanted to get to know “that cute brunette”.  Jack said he met Ruby when she was a chorus girl.  Jack and Ruby were married on May 10, 1948, at the Home Show at Dallas Fair Park.

Ruby was an excellent typist and worked at Texas Title in Richardson and later at Abilene Savings in Abilene.  She taught children’s Bible classes at Highland Park Church of Christ, Waterview Church of Christ, and Hillcrest Church of Christ.  She was an excellent seamstress, making lots of clothes for herself and her daughters.  Later, she put those needle skills to work making quilts for her family and many others.  Ruby was also a great cook, feeding her family and carrying delicious dishes to shut-ins and potlucks. She made the Moran home warm and welcoming to so many.  She loved to visit and entertain, making it look effortless because of her calm and organized manner.

Ruby and Jack were married 72 years. Jack preceded her in death in 2019. She is survived by daughterColeen Meyer (husband Michial) of Cedar Park, daughter Shelda Floyd of Burnet, granddaughter Katy Beaver (husband Bruce) of Belton, grandson Daniel Floyd of Dallas and 4 greatgrandchildren: Caleb, Peyton, Ethan and Charlotte.

The family requests that any donations be made to: World Bible School, 16110 Anderson Mill Rd. Cedar Park, TX 78613
