A Celebration of Life is planned for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Pathway Baptist Church, 1601 W. University Blvd, Odessa, Texas 79761.
He was the beloved husband to Denise, father to Candace, his Minnie Me, and Papa to Keaton. He had a small family but they were a very close knit family. Since being diagnosed with Esophageal cancer in October of 2020 his daughter Candace has been by his side everyday. She tirelessly cared for him by taking him to his treatments, sitting with him each time for hours at each one of them. Roger proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp as a combat engineer, receiving the Vietnam Combat Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He worked in the oil fields the majority of his adult life starting as a roughneck for 15 years then working his way up the ladder to a Drilling Consultant at the age of 35. He loved his job and was so good at it. He worked for Superior Oil Company, Chesapeake, St. Mary, and many more.
Roger loved deep sea fishing, and thought fishing on the beach was a little piece of heaven. He was an avid hunter until he decided that taking pictures of deer was better than shooting them. Roger loved spending time at the ranch, cooking breakfast on the open fire, riding 4-Wheelers. He loved sitting around the camp fire visiting and swapping stories with family. He was famous for his ability to cook the perfect steak and the best pot of green beans.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Cachola; step-father, Ray Canchola;brother, Royce Canchola, and brother, Raymond Canchola.
Roger is survived by his wife Denise; daughter Candace; grandson, Keaton; brothers, Danny Canchola and Randy Canchola; sister, Becky Robb.
