Patricia Peavy Obituary

Patricia Ann Peavy, 90 of Burnet, Texas, died peacefully on February 5, 2025  in the arms of Glenn Peavy, her beloved husband of 71 years.

She was born in Corpus Christi Texas in 1934 to the late Ambrose and Merah Joly. After the untimely death of her father Ambrose, her mother married Harold E. Richardson who was a loving and faithful presence in Pat’s life.  She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School until her senior year when she transferred to W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas.

At the age of 15 Pat attended a birthday party and met a young redhead named Glenn who quickly informed his friends, “I’m going to marry that girl in the pink dress.” Lucky for him Pat agreed, and the rest is history.

After attending one year at Southwest Texas State University, Pat decided her calling was to be a full time wife and mother. She and Glenn were married on September 5, 1953 and she faithfully supported him through all the ups and downs of life and career. In 1966 Glenn’s job led them to Austin where they lived for 26 years.

Pat relished her role as homemaker and devoted her many talents to create an orderly and beautiful home on an often limited budget.  She excelled at sewing, quilting, needlework, gardening, cooking, reupholstering, refinishing, painting and so much more. Her servant heart and cheerful disposition was a blessing and a testimony to all who knew her.

Upon Glenn’s retirement they moved to Burnet, Texas where Pat continued gardening and was so well known for her massive flowerbeds of daisies she became known as “The Daisy Lady.” She enjoyed swimming laps at the YMCA, and never missed a bargain at any garage sale within thirty miles. Above all she loved hosting family and her beloved grandchildren for sleepovers, outings and holiday gatherings.

She faithfully served and worshiped her Lord and Savior at First Baptist Church of Burnet where she was a well known prayer warrior. She was an active volunteer for many years for the annual Mainstreet Bethlehem Christmas Event, sewing costumes, and baking literally thousands of cookies and loaves of homemade bread that were served to the many attendees. On July 21, 2024 as a testimony of her love and obedience to her Lord, she was joyfully baptized in her wheelchair at the age of 90 years.

Pat was the most unselfish person you could ever meet and yet she achieved every goal in life that was important to her. She was a devoted Christian, a fine daughter, loving wife, mother, homemaker, grandma and great grandma.  We will miss her loving presence greatly but rejoice that her sight and health is fully restored and she is home with her Lord. ( Matthew 5:8)

Pat is survived by her husband, Glenn L. Peavy, son Corky Peavy and wife Sandy, daughter Valerie Rhyner and husband Ken, and son Jon Peavy. She cherished her six grandchildren and their spouses: Matthew and Pam Rhyner, Sierra Peavy, Gretchen and Jay Nielsen, Coleman and Ana Peavy, Nick and Allison Rhyner, Jolie Peavy, and three long awaited great grandchildren Ezryn Nielsen, Elizabeth Rhyner and Theodore Peavy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending donations to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch P.O. Box 1490 Amarillo, Texas  or to the charity of your choice.
