In my father's house there are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you: for I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you to Myself: that where I am there you may be also. John 14: 2-4
Oran Lex Hill, age 93 of Burnet, Texas entered God's Kingdom Thursday, June 29, 2023. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and a great grandfather with extended family members, and a dear friend to many. He was born on May 24, 1930, in Hempstead, Texas to Doris Cecilia Miller and Lex Oran Hill.
The Lord blessed Oran, as he was spared long-term suffering, he went peacefully in his sleep with family by his side. There is power in prayer.
Oran was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jacqueline (Elliot) Hill, (would have been, 72 years of marriage), his parents: Lex and Doris Hill, brothers: Guy Hill, Charles Hill, Billy (Butch) Hill, sister: Judy Babcock, daughters: Jeanie Kay Edwards, Kathy Jo (Kitty) Thomas, grandsons: Kenny Wayne Socha and Don Miller. What a glorious reunion in Heaven.
Oran is lovingly remembered by his son Rex Oran Hill, wife Rita and family, daughter, Donna Lee Rodgers and family, sister Cecilia Mclendon, sister-in-law Lois Hill, son in law Danny Edwards and family, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews etc. lifelong friends, companion, and friend Phyllis Hahne.
Some of the most special moments were spent with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren at family gatherings.
He spent over 30 years as the owner of Oran Hill Outfitters.
Oran served our country in the Navy, and he had a deep love for wildlife. His legacy and passion for hunting, fishing, and gardening has been passed down for generations within this family. He taught the value of getting your hands dirty and hard work. From his garden he took pride in distributing his vegetables, specifically to the ladies at the local law enforcement and County offices.
Memorable times of gathering with his law enforcement friends at his home and/or lease sharing in conversation, and good times. He took pleasure in the preparation of meals for them. Oran enjoyed being with family in Hempstead for reunions, camping and traveling. He was a great storyteller, quite a prankster, and loved to share funny jokes. He was onery at times, however he had a delightful attribute of turning on the charm.
Most importantly, Oran could be a man of few words unless he was talking about our Lord and Savior. He loved to share bible verses and the love of Jesus to others.
Oran will be greatly missed by family, friends and everyone who found encouragement through his prayers, advice, and wisdom. He was talented, he authored beautiful poems. They were inspirational, his words brought a great deal of joy to others. Oran's Life will be celebrated, remembered, and honored in Hempstead, Texas. Date and time to be determined.
