Oletha Miller Obituary

Mrs.Oletha Miller, 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

Oletha was born on May 4, 1922 in Lampasas, Texas to Dawson A. and Emma Montgomery.  She had an older brother, Jim Montgomery, and a younger sister, Virginia Dixon. On January 15th, 1947, Oletha married her beloved husband, Howard Irving Miller. They had three children and raised their family in Pasadena,Texas.  She and Howard owned an auto upholstery shop until they retired in Burnet. Oletha enjoyed retirement and stayed very busy. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Burnet and was involved in the Silver Creek Ladies Auxiliary until she had to move closer to town due to Howard’s declining health.  She loved volunteering and was very active in her church and community. Oletha loved entertaining her family and friends at her home near Lake Buchanan, and was known for her excellent cooking and warm hospitality. Everyone especially enjoyed her coconut cake, and requested she make it often. Playing cards and dominoes, spending time with family, and traveling with friends were some of her favorite activities. Oletha never met a stranger and was very generous, helping anyone in need. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Howard Irving Miller, her parents, and brother and sister.

Oletha is survived by her children: daughters, Linda Thomas and husband Jerry, Sue Jones and husband Walter; son, Howard Miller Jr and wife Linda; 9 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the Oaks Nursing Home for their excellent care of Oletha over the past two years. They especially appreciate the loving attention and support of the staff these last two months as her health declined. They also want to extend a special thank you to Texas Home Health Hospice for making her final hours as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
