At a young 70 years of age, Nola Sue Cockroft of Burnet, Texas was called home to heaven, by our most gracious heavenly Father, on December 27, 2022 at 7:50 p.m. She was in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born in Fairbury, Nebraska on August 17, 1952. She grew up in Memphis, Texas, where she graduated as a Cyclone from Memphis High School in 1970 and was named “Most Beautiful” by her class. After High School, Sue attended Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in Amarillo, Texas where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1973.
In that same year, Sue met and married the love of her life, Danny, and they embarked on a wonderful life of matrimony and unconditional love. They moved to Burnet, Texas to start a family and begin their careers. Sue was a registered nurse for Shepperd Memorial Hospital until it closed. She was a charter registered nurse for the Highland Lakes Medical Center, now Ascension Seton Highland Lakes, until her retirement after 37 years of nursing. In conjugation of her servant mentality to society, her relentless work ethic, and putting her sons through “The Texas A & M University”, Sue worked a second job in Burnet at the Group Home, where she provided administrative services for adults in need.
Sue was a God-fearing woman and accepted Christ at an early age. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Burnet.
Sue is survived by Cody (son) and his wife Kina of Houston, Zac (son) of Burnet, and grandsons Brendan and Quinlan Cockroft and step grandsons Kullen, Tristan and Ethan Adamcik. She is also survived by brothers Mike McCravey of Bastrop, Texas, Pat McCravey of Stafford, Virgina, and Steve McCravey of Bryan, Texas.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Danny on June 20, 2014 and her mother, Naomi McCravey
On December 30, 1990.
