Michael "Mike" F. Jones

Mike Jones is now resting in the arms of the Lord.  Mike was born January 27, 1957 in Lamesa, Texas to Bill and Shirley (Patterson) Jones.  He spent his 1st 10 years in Lamesa enjoying young boyhood with his first best friends, his cousins.

Mike moved with his parents to Burnet in 1967.    Mike spent his late teens and early 20s involved in all kinds of sports. In high school he played football and ran track.  His junior year, he was a part of the relay team invited to the Texas relays.  During his high school years, he also began roping and eventually bull riding.

Mike's bull riding career continued well into his twenties.  Oh, the stories he could tell about those days!  When not chasing rodeos, he worked in his parents’ business, Bill's Electric, becoming a licensed electrician and eventually, a master HVAC technician.  The last part of the 1980s, Mike trained race horses, winning several futurities before the state went to para-mutual.

On August 12, 1983, Mike married Tina Howard.  Together they raise 2 sons.  Mike was extremely proud of his sons. In 1998, Mike purchased his parents’ business, becoming the proprietor of Jones Heating and Air Conditioning.

Mike's passion was hunting.  He hunted every chance and everywhere he could, from bear in Alaska to Mule Deer in Colorado to big Whitetail in Alberta.  He loved hog hunting from a chopper and could sit in a deer stand in central Texas for weeks on end.

Most of all Mike was a family man.  He was a sweet husband, was proud of his sons, and adored his precious grandchildren.   He valued and was generous in his friendships.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by and profoundly missed by his wife of 37 years, his sons and daughters-in-law, Bo and Sarah Jones of Magnolia and Colt and Kali Jones of Weatherford as well as grandchildren, Abigail, Luke, Wyatt and Emerson (whom he called Kate).

Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Lakeland Hills Cemetery.   

Visitation will be Monday, May 4, 2020 from 6 to 8 PM at Jenkins Funeral Home.
