Michael Oldaker Obituary

Michael Richard Oldaker, 73, of Burnet, Texas, a loving husband, father, Pop-Pop, and friend,  passed from this life on Monday, July 7th, 2025.

Graveside services are planned for 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2025, at Oatmeal Cemetery, Oatmeal, Texas.  Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Jenkins Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.

Mike was born January 17, 1952 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to N.B. and Velma Oldaker. He was number 10 of 13 children. Due to N.B.’s job, the family moved often, landing them in Bertram, Texas in 1968. Mike began his freshman year at Bertram High School where he met the love of his life, Cindy Dodd. Mike graduated from Burnet High School in 1971. Mike and Cindy married July 23, 1971. They made their home in Bertram, Texas and raised 4 children, Dodd, Monica, Mac, and Amber. 

Mike was employed by Verizon from 1979 to 2009 where he retired. Retirement was not for him and he went to work for BCISD. He did all things from being a Maintenance Man to a Bus Monitor, and loved all the kids. 

Mike enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved coaching his sons' sports teams and loved to tell football stories and relive his glory days from his Bertram and Burnet athletic career He was an active member of the Bertram community by serving on the Bertram Community Association board and Bertram City Council.  Mike was a Deacon at the Bertram Church of Christ for 40 years. He was an active member of church and enjoyed hot dog cookouts for VBS, driving the Joy Bus, and mowing and lawn maintenance around the church grounds. He also enjoyed visiting with those who were unable to attend church.  

He prided himself in being a Pop-Pop to all five of his grandchildren. They were the highlight of his life. One of his favorite places was Port Aransas and he was able to spend his last vacation with all of his kids and grandkids enjoying the beach. 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, and his oldest son, Michael (Dodd) Oldaker. 

He is survived by his wife, Cindy of 52 years, his children, Monica Oldaker, Mac Oldaker and wife Lendy, Amber Oldaker Felps and husband Tyrel, and all 5 grandchildren, Mikey Felps, Willow Oldaker, Duncan Oldaker, Archer Felps, and Holland Felps. Brother Harold Oldaker and wife, sister Carolyn Drury, brother Robert Oldaker, and sister Nadalin Green; Brother in law-Don Dodd and wife Jo, sister-in-law Laura Dodd, sister in law Debbie Brooks and husband Ronnie Brooks, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Mike was well loved, had a great sense of humor, and never knew a stranger. He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need.  He will be greatly missed.

Serving as Pallbearers will be: Jay Bowmer, Richard Lindsey, T.J. Dodd, Jeff Dodd, Joey Brooks, and Matt Brooks. Serving as Honorary Pall Bearers are, Glenn Brooks, Danny Guess, and Greg Clark.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s honor may be made to the Bertram Church of Christ or Lake Country Church of Christ in Burnet.
