Michael Doan Obituary

Michael Joseph Doan, age 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Friday, March 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Burnet, Texas.

Michael was born on December 17, 1948, in Pontiac, Michigan, and raised in Utica, where he graduated from St. Lawrence High School.

In August of 1968, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was wounded in combat and honorably discharged in April of 1970. For his bravery, he was awarded a Purple Heart and several other deserving service medals. Upon his return home, he met and married Nancy Taby, with whom he had two beautiful daughters, Meghan and Mallory.

In 1990, following his divorce, Michael moved to Texas, where he met Deborah—also divorced and the devoted mother of three children: Steven, Lauren, and Kristen. After marrying in 1992 the couple relocated to Michigan, where Michael worked as an IT specialist at the Ford Mustang Plant in Flat Rock until his retirement.

Following his retirement, Michael and Deborah returned to her home state of Texas. There, they became members of a loving church family at First Baptist Church of Burnet.

Michael was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, and proud “Paw Paw.” He loved God, his country, his family, and animals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching funny animal videos. Above all, he lived a life marked by kindness, love, and unwavering dedication to those he cared about. Michael and Deborah remained lovingly married for almost 33 years until his final day, faithfully living out their vows—“in sickness and in health, until death do us part.”

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Dorine and Erwin; his sisters, Betty and Barbara; and his brothers, James and Patrick (Michael’s twin).

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his sister, Gerry Boomer; his daughters, Meghan (Henderson) Foster and Mallory (Cortney ) Davis; and his stepchildren, Steven (Melissa) Coleman, Lauren Ferrini, and Kristen (Wayne) VanAartsen. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, who will carry his memory forward with love.

Michael will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed~until we meet again.
