Maxine Bowmer Glimp was born in Burnet County, August 11, 1933, to parents, Charlie and Susie Boyce Bowmer. Maxine passed peacefully on June 19, 2024, in the Bertram Nursing Home. She had been suffering with pneumonia for some time.
She started school in Bertram in 1939 and graduated from Bertram High School in 1950. After marrying her high school sweetheart Thomas Morris Glimp on August 23, 1952, they enjoyed 22 years of travel with the Air Force. They lived in several states and Germany. They were married for 52 years until Tommy’s passing in 2005.
She grew up in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bertram. She served as Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Bible School Teacher. She also worked with the Girl Scouts fr many years with her daughters, both in the U.S. and Germany. After retiring to Burnet County, Maxine was a member of the Burnet County Historical Commission, Burnet County Heritage Society, Burnet Chamber of Commerce, Church Women’s Ministries and Oatmeal Cemetery Association.
Maxine is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Jack Bowmer, and one grandson, Thomas Neal Slatter.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Lock of Burnet and Lanette Slatter of Bertram; grandchildren, Wendi Colyer of Bertram, Cody Lock of Burnet, and Michel (David) Ornelas of Spokane, WA; great grandchildren, Kathrine and Brian Colyer of Burnet, Kyleigh and Kason Ornelas of Spokane, Faith Farmer of Marble Falls; great great grandchild, Emmary of Marble Falls.
Funeral services are planned for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Jenkins Funeral Home with Rev. Kathryn Avery officiating. with burial to follow at Oatmeal Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2024, at the funeral home.
