Maud Cain Obituary

Maud Eva Hopkins Cain, 88, of Burnet won her victory in Jesus on March 3, 2025, in Burnet, Texas.  She was born on January 1, 1937, to Johnnie Clayton Hopkins and Alma Lee Cantrell., the first baby born in 1937 in Bell County, Texas and the third child in her family.  She graduated from Temple High School in 1955 and attended the Nixon Clay Business College in Austin.  While in Austin, she met and married Osborne Allen Cain, Jr.  They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on March 1, 2025.

Maud accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized as a young adult. She remained a faithful Christian her entire life, most recently being a member of the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ in Burnet.  Most of her work career was spent at the Internal Revenue Service from which she retired in 1995. Allen and Maud loved camping and traveled all over the United States. Maud also became very involved with genealogy research and was a member of the Llano Uplift Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Marble Falls.

Maud was preceded in death by her parents, brother Clayton Hopkins and sister Faye Hielscher, daughter Lori Cain, grandson Matthew Cain, granddaughter Andrea Smith, great-granddaughter Calee Johnson and nephew Johnnie Clayton Hopkins III.  She is survived by her husband Allen of Burnet, Texas,, daughters Jeanne Ayers of Pflugerville, Texas, Cindy (David) Brown of Burnet, Texas, Sandy (Bruce) Taylor of Ronan, Montana, grandchildren DJ Garza, Jeremy Ayers, Brodie Brown, Clayton Taylor, Janelle Taylor, Shea Johnson, Cori Bergeron, nieces Heather Mitchell and Melissa Hielscher, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Maud’s family would like to thank the staffs of the Oaks Nursing Center in Burnet and the Granite Mesa Health Center in Marble Falls for their loving care of her for the last several years. 

A memorial service to honor Maud’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ in Burnet.  A private family burial will take place at Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet.  Arrangements by Jenkins Funeral Home in Burnet.
