Lydia Gonzales, 71 of Cottonwood Shores, Texas passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 surrounded by the Holy Spirit.
She was born on January 9, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois to Leandro and Roberta Gonzales. Lydia was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Marble Falls, Texas and a devout Catholic. Lydia is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sisters (Sonya, Rita) and four brothers (Robert, David, Mark, Phillip).
Lydia is survived by her children, Lucio Atkinson “Little Roy”, Monica and husband Charlie Flores, Justin Rojas and wife Rashelle Rojas, and son Caleb Rojas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, the love and lights of her life, Austin, Dominik, Gabriel, Charly, Kez, Zion, Symphony, Sarai, Lyric, and Rhythm.
Lydia was a LOVING mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved doting over her grandchildren first and foremost. She ensured she attended each school party, athletic event, graduation, and special occasions. If she was asked to do school pick up, it was always “yes!”, although we never knew if we would get our kids back right away, because she would whisk them away for dinner, ice cream, pet stores, Wal-Mart or movies afterwards. She loved reading and traveling, her most treasured reach was Spain with Caleb. She loved the ocean and never said no to Justin and Rashelle when it was time to go to Mustang Island or Port Aransas. She loved the colors of the sunset and evening boat rides with Monica and Charlie. Her favorite flower was a red tulip. Her favorite color was baby blue. She loved Windberg paintings of the Sea. She loved her morning coffee and daily talks with Little Roy. She loved cooking and baking. We would all get excited with her spice cake and brownies, which she had baked on the day of her passing and what we came home to, it’s like she knew. She loved picking up her saxophone and seeing if she still had it. She loved her designer purses and shoes. It seems silly to say it, but if she could buy you shoes or give you shoes, sign her up. She loved late nights with Mahjong. She loved community and fellowship…. And her little unspoken rendezvous (i.e. casinos) with her friends….you know who you are. She loved her brothers and sisters immensely, always checking on them, never missing a moment to extend what she could …. and say I love you. She loved Facebook and the ability to check in on all her nieces, nephews and friends.
Her smile was huge, her heart was big, and her love for all of us, each and every one of us will forever be instilled in our souls. When you see the waves of the ocean, we pray you see her and find comfort in knowing she is home with Jesus.
