Lillie Otte Obituary

Lille Bell Otte passed away on January 23, 2025, in Marble Falls, Texas.  Lillie Bell was 86 at the time of her death and a faithful Christian at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Granite Shoals, Texas.

Lillie Bell Justice was born on May 4, 1938, grew up, and went to school in Richland Springs, Texas, living in the country on a farm as a young girl, learning how to work hard and hoe cotton.  Later after moving to town, Lille lived in a house situated on a hill with her parents, Ola Bell (Chastain) Justice and James Everett Justice, and two sisters, Maggie Joe and Lue Francis.  Lillie married Phillip Floyd Smith on July 3, 1954.  They lived in and around Denver City, Texas to seek work in the oil field.  Two additional children (Cindy and Ronnie) soon followed into the busy and loving life of Lille with a third daughter, Carol, joining the family.  Lillie waitressed in a restaurant, while maintaining an inviting and organized home.

Following the death of Floyd in 1969, Lillie remarried a warm-hearted and caring husband, William “Bill” Otte on June 19, 1970, increasing the family with two energetic and loving children, Kim and Tanya.  Being a family of 7, things were always busy and chaotic.  Two motorcycles that were always breaking down and siblings squabbling over a pool table they had to share while living on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Montezuma Creek Utah.  When Lillie and Bill moved to Farmington, New Mexico to purchased a mobile home park, they were busy-busy-busy with the running and upkeep of the business.  After time moved on, Bill and Lillie retired to Central Texas, eventually settling on Lake Buchanan with a boat in the dock, plenty of fishing and many boat “toys”.  So, as you can imagine, lots of family and friend’s found time to visit and spend time with Lillie and Bill, enjoying their hospitality and “ready for fun” attitude.  Lillie was always a gracious hostess, preparing meals, picking up all that great sugared cereal for the grandkids, and ever ready with hotdogs and marshmallows.  The grandkids have fond memories of Grandma Lillie and Grandpa Bill sharing in the water adventures at “The Lake”.

Lillie shared her life with many family members and loved ones to include, children, Carole Ward, Donna Bush, Cindy Smathers (Ken), Kim Otte (Mary), Ronnie Smith (Jenny), and Tanya Hickman (Tommy); sister, Lue Francis Angell (Rick); sixteen loving grandchildren; many wonderful great grandchildren, and the most beloved companion, Angel.

Lillie is preceded in death by first husband, Phillip Floyd Smith; second husband, Bill Otte; sister, Maggie Jo Rutherford; parents, Ola Bell and James Everett Justice and three precious grandchildren.
