With heavy hearts and deep love, we remember Lanette Glimp Slatter, age 69, born on July 4, 1956, who joined the Lord on December 23, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Oklahoma and resided in Oatmeal, Texas since 1991. Lanette was a proud graduate of Reagan High School, Class of 1974, in Austin, Texas. She retired from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and dedicated many years to the Texas Delaine-Merino Sheep Association.
Lanette was a woman whose kindness, humor, and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. She was truly sweet and funny, always ready with a smile, a laugh, or a comforting presence. Her beautiful eyes and radiant smile reflected the love she carried in her heart.
She found joy in the simple things—playing games, tending to her garden, and surrounding herself with the plants and flowers she lovingly cared for. She adored her dog, Buster, who was her constant companion and brought her immense comfort and happiness.
Lanette especially treasured visiting her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in Washington, moments that filled her heart with joy and love. She was deeply loved by her family, former coworkers, neighbors, church community and many more. Wherever she went, she formed meaningful connections and left behind warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.
Above all, Lanette was a devoted mother and grandmother. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit, her laughter, and her love will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her. There is peace and comfort in knowing she is reunited in Heaven with her son, Neal.
God blessed her in her final year with the gift of a longtime friend, Weldon Honig, who became her loving companion, remaining faithfully by her side until she was called home.
Lanette was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Neal Slatter, and her parents, Thomas and Maxine Glimp, of Oatmeal, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Michel Ornelas, and husband David Ornelas; her beloved grandchildren, Kyleigh and Kason Ornelas, of Spokane, Washington; her sister, Karen Glimp Lock, of Burnet, Texas; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to her niece, Wendi Colyer, and her sister Karen Lock, for opening their hearts and home to her beloved dog, Buster, and for the loving care they have given him.
The family gratefully acknowledges those who will serve as pallbearers offering their love and support during this time of remembrance. Cody Lock, Brian Colyer, Jay Bowmer, Greg Clark, Charles Fazzino, Michael Fazzino, Coleman Fazzino, and Chase Fazzino.
The visitation will be on Jan. 1st, 6-8 pm at the Jenkins Funeral Home in Burnet. The funeral service will be held at the Bertram Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Jan. 2nd at 11 am, followed by the burial at the Oatmeal Cemetery.
