Judith "Judy" Louise DaMetz Obituary
Judith Louise "Judy" DaMetz, 83, of Liberty Hill, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Born on December 18, 1942, in Coffeyville, Kansas, Judy was the daughter of George W. Mitchell and Marian Douglas Mitchell. She grew up with the strong values of faith, family, and hard work that remained the foundation of her life.
Judy began her family with her first husband of 20 years, John Romig, and together they had four children. On August 20, 1989, she married the love of her life, Russell DaMetz, and together they blended their families into one filled with love and laughter.
She retired as a legal secretary from the Teacher Retirement System after many years of dedicated service. Judy was passionate about her Christian faith, and her greatest joy was caring for her family. She loved tending her vegetable garden, sewing for the entire family, especially Easter dresses and wedding gowns. Lovingly, she handmade countless blankets that will continue to warm generations of her family.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Russell DaMetz; her children, Kathleen Jennings and her husband, Pastor Kevin Jennings, of Corpus Christi, Texas; Douglas C. Romig and his wife, Jamey of Knoxville, Tennessee; Dr. Jennifer King and her husband, Brett, of Liberty Hill, Texas; Warren Romig and his wife, Tracy, of Round Rock, Texas; Russell S. DaMetz and his wife, Susan, of Round Rock, Texas; William DaMetz and his wife, Tara, of Bastrop, Texas; Nicole Harris and her husband, Stephen, of Katy, Texas; Noel DaMetz Rose of Liberty Hill, Texas; and Mary “Kristi” DaMetz of Leander, Texas. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many beloved extended family members and friends.
