Johnnie Maldonado Obituary

Johnnie Ray Maldonado, 60, went to be with his savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

Funeral Services are planned for Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Jenkins Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.  Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery, Andice, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Jenkins Funeral Home.

He was born August 9, 1961, in Bertram, Texas, to David and Dominga Maldonado. Johnnie, the youngest of 11, grew up in Bertram. He attended Burnet High School. After High School, he spent time at A&M before becoming a rancher and then spent many years around the country doing construction, being a cowboy, and two-stepping in the nearest country club.

While in Dallas, he met his wife of 29 years, Jessica. They got married on November 9, 1989. After moving around from Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska, they settled in Bertram, Texas, where Johnnie started his construction company that became one of the most well-known concrete companies in the Hill Country. Bertram is where they raised their children, Jill, Jodi, Bo, Kati, Zach, and Christian. After being self-employed, Johnnie moved on to be a construction superintendent for the last five years.

Johnnie was known for his hard work, his humor, and his love for his family. He enjoyed sports, deer hunting and knew the love God had for him and all that Christ had accomplished on his behalf. He had a story or saying for every situation, loved to joke, could rope and lay rock with the best of them, and was always there when you needed him.

Johnnie is survived by former spouse Jessica Wheat Maldonado and children Jill Meyer, Jodi Bostic (Calen), John Maldonado (Annie), Kati Maldonado (Jorge), Zach Maldonado (Grace), and Christian Maldonado. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bennet Maldonado, Camden Bostic, Jorge A Gomez III, Ashton Hough, Baby Fritz Bostic, and Mia Maldonado. He is also survived by his siblings David Maldonado Jr. (Vinnie), Stella Sanchez (Juan), Gloria Maldonado, Berda Everson (Richard), Kathy Maldonado (Mike), Ernye Zawitkowski (Jan), and Joseph Maldonado. He is also survived by fiancé Linda Leckie.

He was preceded in death by his parents David and Dominga Maldonado, and his siblings Angelita, Roberto, and Joe Maldonado.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and love during this time.
