Jerry Wayne Payne, born on September 13, 1951 to Hazel and Arlie Payne, passed away on March 14, 2020. Known to many as the Muffler Man, loved most of his 34 plus years of exhaust work.
A funeral service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18 at First Baptist Church of Bertram with interment to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sue Pearson Payne; daughter, Wendy and husband Mike Dominguez; son, Jerremy and wife Cassie Payne; Anthony and Susan Valdez; seven grandkids, Nick, Dylan, Emily, Jadan, Justin, Holden, Serrie; brother, Robert and wife Penny Payne; sister, Gloria Jackson; brother in law, Lacy and wife Rhonda Pearson; Billy and Louise Pearson; sister in law, Gail Pearson as well as several nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. Also, adopted kids, grandkids, great grandkids and great god granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Carpenter and Arlie Payne as well as younger brother, James Payne.
Honoring Jerry as Pallbearers will be, Brandon and Keith Reese, Cody Payne, Collen Ratliff, Kerry Zinz and Colton and Casey Moore.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Alan Payne, Paul Reese, Bill Burgess, Terry Zinz and Justin Mathers.
