Soon after graduating he went to work for Mathes A/C Assembly in Marble Falls, WH Baker Construction and LCRA as a lineman. They were members of Bertram Church of Christ where he served as a deacon and JOY Bus driver. They also attended Leander Church of Christ. He served on the Liberty Hill Independent School District Board of Education and served with the Burnet County FFA & Livestock Show Board of Directors as well as the PEC community liaison to the Cedar Park City Council.

He was a lifetime farmer and rancher and turned full-time rancher when he retired from PEC. He grew his herd to over 200 head of momma cows.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Nola Ellett.
