A Celebration of Life is planned for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Burnet Presbyterian Church, Burnet, Texas.
Hap was born on November 6, 1945, in Burnet, Texas to Henry and June Zimmerman. As soon as he was old enough to swing a hammer, he started working as a carpenter for his father. He graduated from Burnet High School in 1964 and upon graduation enrolled in drafting school, in Austin. He proudly served in the Texas National Guard as a young man. Once he finished drafting school, he went to work for what was then called The Texas Highway Department. He retired from TXDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) after 35 years, working in the local Burnet office and at the District Headquarters in Austin. After his retirement from TXDOT, Hap spent the next year being his daughter’s biggest fan through her senior year activities. The following year he went to work for KC Engineering, and remained there for 8 years.
He was a member and Elder at Burnet Presbyterian Church and served as the church treasurer for 35 years. He loved Texas High School and Collegiate football, as well as ranching (cattle and goats). Hap was also a former board member for LACare food pantry as well as a Burnet County 4-H supporter. He served on the board of directors with the Burnet County Fair and Rodeo Association, County Extension Ag Program Area Committee, and was a member of the American & Texas Angus Associations.
Hap is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and June Zimmerman.
