Gerald “Jerry” J. Gute, 86, passed away on February 6, 2025.
Visitation is planned from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Jenkins Funeral Home in Burnet, TX.
Jerry was born on November 6, 1938 in Carroll, Iowa, to Frank and Mary Gute. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1957 where he was very active in track and woodworking. After school he worked for Good Specialties Import and Export Sales Company out of Omaha, Nebraska, and was afforded the opportunity to travel the world. In 1988, after 33 years, he retired from the sales business and bought a farm in Glidden, Iowa.
Even though raising pigs, sheep and growing corn took the majority of his time, he still managed to stay an avid fisherman and rarely missed a Polka dance. Every February he traveled with family to Lake Buchanan, TX, where the entire month was devoted to catching bass.
In 2001 he retired to Texas where he continued to enjoy fishing, playing cribbage and listening to polka music.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Frank Gute; son, Kevin Gute; brothers, Alan Gute, Delbert Gute, and Duane Gute.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne Gute; sons, Doug Gute, Dean Gute, and Tony Gute; daughters, Gina Gute Rockwell and Terri Wahlert; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; brother, Frank Gute; sisters, Cynthia Ketner and Jane Wenck.
