Gary Poppema, 66, passed away on April 10, 2021.
A public service will not be held at this time.
Gary was born on August 27, 1954 in Holland, Michigan to Barney and Grace Poppema. He worked in the HVAC trade in Holland, MI most of his life and also worked several years in the maintenance department at Hope College. Gary and his wife toured the United States in 1995 and decided to move to Burnet because of the Lakes, hills, weather, and friendly people. In 2004 they moved to Burnet and enjoyed taking care of their llamas, cows, and Honey the mini mule. He also loved fishing, taking rides through the hill country, and sharing refreshments with friends. Shortly after they moved to Burnet, Gary went to work at Hoover Building Supply where he quickly made new friends with customers and co-workers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Grace Poppema; brother, Ronald Poppema.
Gary is survived by his wife Carole; sister Pat Klynstra (Don); brother-in-law, Glenn Zoerman (Judy); sister-in-law, Pam Hensley (Lu); several nieces and nephews, and his favorite dog, Rascal.
Arrangements under the care of Jenkins Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.
