Don Smith, 90, passed away on February 14, 2022.
A graveside service was held on February 19, 2022 at Tow Cemetery, Tow, Texas, officiated by Brother James McHam.
Don was born on September 13, 1931, to Waylon Smith and Malinda Sweet Atkins in Lampasas, Texas. He attended school, however finished his 7th grade year, then quite to help support his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1947-1948. He married the love of his life, Sue and together they raised 9 children.
Don worked for many years as an auto mechanic, however he loved to fish anywhere he could drop a hook. He had a green thumb and always raised a beautiful garden with tomatoes and vegies for everyone. He was a NASCAR fan and loved watching the races. Don also loved building and repairing car motors and was know as the carburetor king. He especially enjoyed every minute he spent with is family and friends.
Don is preceded in death by his father, Waylon Smith and mother, Lindy Atkins; daughter, Sylvia Smith; son, Donald Eugene Smith; sisters, Helen, and Edith; brothers, Billy Wayne Smith and Roger Smith; and granddaughter, Tammy Smith.
Survivors include, children, Vickie Seiley (Tommy) of Burnet, TX, Donnie Smith of Lampasas, Crystle Smith of Copperas Cove, Ricky Smith (Janet) of Little Elm, Bobby Smith (Shirley Jean) of New York, NY, Ronnie Smith (Keri) of Forney, and Don Stanley (Lori) of Allen, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Debra (Billy) Herrera, Michael (Bethany) Seiley, Krista Noah, Jennifer (Bernardo) Martinez, Donnie Smith, Shelley Smith, Robert Smith, Stacey Smith, and Kevin Smith; ten great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Marilyn, Judy, Yvonne, Marvin, and Darrell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
