Edgar “Eddie” Arnold East, 81, of Burnet, Texas, died peacefully and unexpectedly from complications of Covid on Friday, February 18, 2022. Eddie served in the United States Navy, was a law enforcement officer, a truck driver, a salesman, an entrepreneur, and most recently served as an advocate for mentally and physically disabled persons. Edgar was born in Austin, Texas, in 1940 to Arnold East and Geraldine (Maddox) East and he grew up in Austin; he lived in Travis, Harris, Williamson, & Burnet counties for most of his life. His first job was at East Poultry, which was owned by his uncle, Leonard East.
Edgar leaves behind three children, Darlena Wills and husband, James of Jarrell; Eddie East II of Burnet; and a 9-year-old daughter whom he shared with wife, Robin East, of Burnet; a granddaughter, Dr. Jennifer Wills of Jarrell; brothers, Mike East of Liberty Hill and David East of Burnet; nieces, Diana Fisher of Justin; Leslie Leath of Bertram; Melony Schaefer and Jasmine Steele of Liberty Hill; nephews; James & Jeff East of Burnet and Jason East of Arkansas. Edgar also leaves behind a plethora of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved Pug, “Big Al.” He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary East, nephew, Jerry East, and first wife, Janie Gumm East.
Edgar was a Christian who was dedicated to his family and loved them fiercely. He was relentlessly patriotic and always advocated for those who could not speak for themselves. He quietly practiced acts of kindness in his own unique way.
