Debra Shifflett Obituary

Debra Rathmell-Shifflett passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 18th,2025, at 221 Sand Lily Ln, Georgetown TX, 78626 from 2p.m-6p.m.

Debra was born October 20, 1951, in Fort Worth, TX. She married Leonard D. Shifflett March 21, 1970 in Graham, TX. Debbi was not only a mother to Christopher Shifflett, Scott Shifflett, Trent Shifflett, and Traci Herring, but also played a special role as a babysitter and second mother to her grandchildren, creating a lifetime of loving memories that will be cherished forever. Her husband, Leonard, worked hard to give her the ability to stay at home and closely watch her grandchildren grow up. In addition, she treated the friends of her children and grandchildren as if they were her own. Debbi and Leonard were everyone’s “grandma and pawpaw”!

Debbi and her husband Leonard loved to travel. They had been to Canada, Mexico, and all over the United States. Leonard lived to ensure Debra had everything she could possibly want in her lifetime. When Debbi was young, she loved to spend her free time roller skating at Caldwell Skating Rink. She loved to relax with her family out at their Lakehouse in Kingsland, TX. Debra taught her granddaughters at a young age to crochet and made sure that was a skill she passed on to them. She loved watching her granddaughters and grandsons play sports, and always cheered them on from the bleachers. Debra loved taking pictures and saving the memories of every family function and quality time. In July 2019, Debbi and her family took a road trip to Colorado where she got to go up to Pikes Peak and look out over her favorite state. In 1980, Debbi, her husband, and 3 kids lived in Colorado Springs.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she embraced her role with warmth, patience, and unwavering love. Whether it was playing video games, making home-made meals, reading stories, or simply offering a comforting hug, Debbi was a constant source of guidance and joy in their lives. She had a unique ability to make each child feel special and adored, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

Debbi will be remembered not only for her boundless love for her family but also for her kindness, sense of humor, and generosity of spirit. Her legacy will live on in the cherished memories of her husband, children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard D. Shifflett of Burnet; sons, Scott Shifflett of Austin, Trent Shifflett and wife Elizabeth of Burnet, Traci Shifflett-Herring of Georgetown; grandchildren, Austin Herring, Hannah Herring, Kealey Herring, Addison Shifflett, Graham Shifflett, and Jacob Shifflett.
