Charles Burgamy Sr. Obituary

Charles Edward Burgamy, age 87 passed away March 29, 2024. He was born October 23,1936 in Mitchell, Georgia to Alford Edison Burgamy and Beulah Everett Kitchens House.  Charles loved to restore vehicles as a hobby. He painted over 30 cars and restored them to pristine condition. He also loved camping, boating and being at the lake, especially Clarks Hill.  He obtained a bachelor's degree in business from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. He later attended Georgia Tech in which he studied electronics. This knowledge led to another hobby of repairing televisions. He was also a member of the National Guard stationed at Fort Gordon GA. He retired from Piedmont/ US Air and American Airlines. He began working for Piedmont in 1966 in Augusta Georgia and continued with them for over 30 years. His nickname at work was "Flash". He was a dedicated and loyal employee. Most years he received a perfect attendance award. He was proud to work for the airlines and thankful it afforded him the opportunity to visit family in different places in the US. He loved John Wayne, Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. His pastime was relaxing in his chair watching football or his favorite Gunsmoke episode with his faithful dog Patton in his lap. Charles and Sharron were married on June 12, 1966 in Round Rock, Texas and together were active members of the First Baptist Church in Bertram. He loved his church and Monday bible study group. He maintained the landscaping of the church grounds.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Jimmy House. Charles also adored his stepfather James F. House who went to be with Jesus in 1999.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon K. Burgamy; children, Eddie Burgamy (Kym) of North Carolina, Vicki Burgamy, Rusty Burgamy and Micheal Burgamy all of Summerville SC.; stepchildren, Lori Bagnaschi (Steven) of Germany, Jerry Edmonson (Gail) Katy, Texas, and Leah Patrick of Liberty Hill, Texas. He (Papa) has six grandchildren, Jesse Burgamy, Kasie Lewis, Taylor Patrick, Jessica Burgamy, Jackie Burgamy, Jamie Burgamy, Ben Bagnaschi, and Lindsey Bagnaschi; and eight great grandchildren; aunts, Lillie Ansley and Billie Stephenson.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Bertram, Texas Friday April 12, 2024 at 2:00.
