Brian James Youngquist

Brian James Youngquist, age 69 passed the morning of April 22nd, 2025, with his wife Kim by his side at the BS&W hospital in Marble Falls, Tx. He was born on March 24, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa to Melvin James Youngquist and Marilyn Lee (Klemme) Youngquist both deceased. He had 2 sisters, Linda Johnson and Laura Youngquist and one older brother, Kevin Youngquist (wife Linda) and two nieces and two nephews.

Brian’s children were his pride and joy only second to the 14 grandchildren and one great grandson he had. Joy Ellen Breeding and husband Jason, his oldest daughter, Jeremy Youngquist and wife Tracy, Summer Grace Youngquist and Zak Youngquist and wife Caiti. He also had his bonus family inherited when he married Kim. Along with many special people along the way. One other person in his life that meant the world to him was (as he is affectionally known as) Grandpa Jim Benson. Jim came into Brians life when Brian was a teenager and was not just a stepdad but a friend through all the years. They still were very close. Losing Brian was a loss to Jim as well. Brian loved each one with his entire being. He loved Kim’s family, and they loved him. He helped Kim with caring for her mother in her home for close to 7 years. She lived to be 100.

Brian was proud that he had been certified to drive a truck and prior to that he was a tree trimmer in Arizona where he raised the kids. He loved music and played the blues harps pretty darn good. He talked often of not having a grandfather of his own to fall back on for example and then was blessed with so many grandchildren of his own. His wish was to do a good job of being a Papa, it was probably, according to him, his most important job. All those that knew him knew he was adventuresome, fun, a bit of a wanderer in that he loved to travel and see and discover his world. He and Kim were able to make many road trips and cruises together over the last 18 years.

Brian accepted Christ and was baptized many years ago and he knew the Lord well. He fell on Christ through trials and errors in life as we all do, and he never wavered in the Christ like love for all he knew and met. He would give everything he had to someone if they were in need, it’s just who he was. If one of the kids called to move furniture or needed a little cash, he was right there for them. Brian will be missed by many, but family and friends have some great memories mostly because he wanted everyone to play hard, get dirty, have fun and make mistakes. (one of his favorite things to say) Because he knew that is how we learn and grow.

There will be a visitation at Jenkins Funeral Home in Burnet from 6 to 8 PM on Monday the 28th of April. A family gravesite will be on Tuesday the 29th at 11:00 AM at the City of Burnet

Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to Kim’s Brother and her parents and grandparents.
