Billie Jean (Smith) Mills

Billie Jean Mills, 88, passed away on December 13, 2022.

A graveside service is planned for 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Nockenut Cemetery, Stockdale, Texas.  Her family will receive friends from 10:00 - 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Jenkins Funeral Home just prior to her graveside service in Stockdale.

Billie was born on June 12, 1934, to Elijah Arnold Smith and Ivy Lee (Jake) Smith.  She married Jesse James Mills and together they had six children. Billie was a great talker and never met a stranger.  She had many wonderful stories of her travels around Texas and the families that she worked for starting at the age of 14. She loved going to garage sales, had a fascination with rocks, loved flowers and visiting cemeteries.  She had a servant’s heart and loved working as a nurse’s aide and caring for people in their homes.  Her last job was with Edgar Funeral Home and Jenkins Funeral Home sitting at night for more than 25 years.

Billie is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James Mills; daughters, Sandra June Mills and Nancy Mills Galindo.

She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Jo McDaniel, Esther Jay Mills, and Johnnie Jan Mills; son, James Mills; grandchildren, Kennen McDaniel, Marshall McDaniel (Tica), Martin Galindo (Connie), and Melissa Adams (Jim); great grandchildren, Andrea McDaniel, Megan Jones, Kimberly Jones, Kenneth McDaniel, and Kameron McDaniel; great-great grandchildren, Lexa Jane Hyman-Price and Axel Tobius Gonzales, and numerous children that called her Aunt Billie and grandma as well as many more friends and family.
