Michael Everett Akin

Michael Everett Akin, 76, of Spicewood, Texas, formerly of Texarkana, TX, passed away September 29, 2019.  He was born to William Baxter and Marie (Wood) Akin on February 21, 1943 in Abilene, Texas.

Mike worked as a journeyman baker until his retirement. During his employment, he often travelled throughout the US. He never met a stranger, and he enjoyed seeing new places. He was an active member of Spicewood Church of Christ.

Mike enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren, going to high school football games, watching soccer games, and spending time with his grandchildren at every opportunity.  

Mike is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janette, daughters Julie Akin, Jennifer Green (John), and Jamie Banks (Randy), and his sons Jeff Akin (Amy) and Greg Akin (Kristina). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Addison Akin, Justin Anderson, Katie Anderson, Sarah Banks, Brett Banks, Elizabeth Banks, Emmalee Arlitt, Robert Arlitt, Olivia Akin, Molly June Akin, and Ruby Akin.

He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Billy and Bert) and one sister (Nina Burnett). 

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the Spicewood Church of Christ on Saturday, October 5 at 5pm.
