Lester Royce Patterson

Lester Royce Patterson, 85, passed away on September 17, 2019.

A funeral service is 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2019 at Bertram Church of Christ with interment to follow at Oatmeal Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Lester was born on April 30, 1934 in Ackerly, Texas to Melvina and Uzera Patterson.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Lester enlisted at a younger age than allowed and had to have his father sign approval for his enlistment.  Upon his discharge from the Air force he work for several years in the oil fields.  Later he went to work for the State of Texas until his retirement after 33 years.  Lester’s favorite activity was fishing and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.  He also loved building and built the home that he and Betty lived in up to his passing. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Uzera Patterson; brother, Robert Patterson; brother in laws, Robert “Bob” Craft and John T. Murphy.

Lester is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Patterson; sons, Gerald Boyd Patterson, James Royce Patterson and wife, Jody, and Leslie Patterson and wife Joni Gayle; grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Hale and husband David, Levi Royce Patterson, and Tyler David Patterson; sisters, Ella Mae Craft, Lela Joyce Murphy, and Nora Malatino and husband Joe.
